Planning Your Wedding? How To Help Your Out-Of-Town Guests Feel Comfortable

If you're planning your wedding, and you have a lot of out-of-town guests who will be attending, you'll need to spend some extra time planning for their needs. Yes, the wedding is about you, but your out-of-town guests will be traveling a long distance to spend your special day together. You want to make sure they're as comfortable as possible once they arrive. Here are several helpful tips you can use to help your guests feel special when they travel to your wedding.

Reserve a Block of Hotel Rooms

If you're going to have more than just a couple out of town guests for your wedding, you want to make sure that they have a nice place to stay. The last thing you want is to have your wedding guests camping out on your living room floor. You also don't want to make your guests stay in hotels all across town. The best way to keep your guests close is to reserve a block of rooms at a nearby hotel. If you're going to be holding your wedding ceremony at a hotel, arrange to reserve rooms there. That way, your guests are all located in one convenient location, and they don't need to worry about finding local wedding accommodations.

Send Information on Local and Nearby Attractions

If your guests are going to be in town for more than just a day or two, they may want to get out and enjoy the sights. Not only will that let your guests get out and have fun, it will also give you the extra time you'll need to take care of those last minute wedding plans without feeling like you need to entertain your out-of-town guests. Before your guests arrive, be sure to send them information on all the local and nearby attractions that they might enjoy. You can contact your local Chamber of Commerce. They usually have pamphlets and brochures available that highlight local attractions.

Provide a Copy of the Itinerary at Check-In

When the big day arrives, you'll be busy getting yourself ready for the ceremony. You won't have time to arrange the schedules for all your out-of-town guests. However, you don't want them to feel left out, or to miss important moments. To make sure your out-of-town guests are up to speed, print out your wedding itinerary and provide the hotel with copies that can be presented at check-in.

Arrange a Pre-Wedding Meet and Greet

If you're going to have out-of-town guests from both sides of the wedding party, you'll want to give them an opportunity to meet before the big day. A great way to do that is to arrange a pre-wedding meet and greet at the hotel. This will allow both sides of the family to get acquainted with each other before the wedding. That way, you can avoid all that awkward silence during reception.

About Me

Hotel Happenings: Making The Most Of Your Travel

The very first time we took a vacation as a family, I was absolutely awestruck by the hotel where we stayed. The support staff, the room service, the breakfast bar, and the general environment made me feel special. I knew then that I would grow up to learn everything I could about the industry. I've spent my entire adult life traveling and exploring different types of resorts, hotels, and other facilities. I've learned a lot of tricks of the trade, and I created this site to share them with you. I hope the information here helps you make the most of your next vacation.
